The Institute for Energy Research, a privately funded energy think tank, has attracted the ire of wind energy advocates. IER responds here to their adversarial blogging and in so doing brings out some interesting statistics on the true cost of windmills. As I’ve said before here at AVFTA, wind farms are actually tax farms, and every windmill you plug into the grid incrementally drives up cost. No, I’m not against windmills. I’m just against having to pay for somebody else’s failed enterprise. These things need to show that they can be financially self supporting at some point in the future. Even if current electricity prices were doubled, they’d still need taxpayer support. That’s a bad deal for America.
