Jesus cover-up?
Mr. Obama spoke at Georgetown University this week. Christian symbols were covered where they would not be seen in camera views. Published reports say this was done at the request of the White House. I’m willing to listen to an explanation of why they complied with this seemingly offensive request. At the same time let’s remember what our Savior said: Whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. (Matt 10:33)
Suddenly interested
It’s probably news to most of us that Somalia has a prime minister. Never mind that, though. After our government wasted three of his pirates and hinted about bringing the fight ashore, the old boy found his interest in stopping pirates from using Somalia as a base. Now he thinks he might be willing to help America on the issue. Somebody please notify Al Sharpton that the pirates are actually not Somalia’s volunteer coast guard.
Why Americans buy guns
The no-longer-quite-so venerable Wall Street Journal evidently left one of its liberals unattended in the presence of a computer. Sure enough, out popped a story with a headline connecting gun sales with fear and greed. What a perfectly contemptible load of leftist twaddle. After stating, “No one knows exactly what is behind the gun-buying craze,” writers Roth and McKay explain the two principal reasons perfectly. People expect a Democrat-controlled government to outlaw guns, so they’re buying now rather than risking delay. Second, they buy guns for self defense. Now, how hard is that really?
Rick Perry steps in dog poo, tracks it on carpet
Southerners, most of them anyway, know that the right to secede from the union was implicit from the start. The War of Northern Agression went against us because Southern governments tried to defend a colossal moral blunder (race-based enslavement of kidnapped persons and their offspring in perpetuity) by positioning it behind the perfectly reasonable notion that a state’s participation in the union is voluntary. The Yankees destroyed both with the eventual outcome that they will have enslaved us all. But never mind that now — it is over. The post-1865 union will not be dissolved until everybody decides to leave all at the same time. By continuing to insist on the legality of a lost cause, Gov. Perry may have amputated his political career, both legs, above the knee. One of the first rules of wise living: If you can pick your battles, choose ones you can win.

Some more Southern guys pretending it isn't over.
