Military sodomy and the coming age of pagan darkness

The Congress has voted to let homosexuality be an out-in-the-open kind of thing in the armed forces. Requiring homosexuals to keep their private lives private was a burden too heavy to bear, woe betide them all, so in the words of Joe Lieberman, they had to “do the right thing.” The largest sector of the federal work force must now accept that a new morality has mounted the throne, if you’ll pardon the expression.

In the short run, what will this change? Maybe not all that much.  My guess is that the phrase, “That’s so gay” will not immediately cease to be a slur nor will “sodomy” be cheerfully adopted by homosexuals to describe their acts. Nor can sodomy be rendered clean, nor will the devastating health effects of a life devoted to sodomy be alleviated, nor will the change in the law bring about any change in the human conscience. Men who defile their bodies cannot be prevented from knowing about it despite the prophylaxis (sorry!) of putting on a legislative tin foil hat.

It goes without saying, though I’ll say it anyway, that this doesn’t change God’s viewpoint either. Male and female created he them. In one of the higher achievements in the Secular Man’s hypocrisy, have you noticed how determined he is that nothing of nature be disturbed by man? We mustn’t eat beef lest the cows fart methane, mustn’t build an apartment here lest the nematodes be obliged to scoot over. And yet when the subject is the Secular Man’s sexual appetites, nature suddenly means nothing.

All back-and-forth between gay and straight will likely trundle along as it has been for the past twenty or thirty years.  What will change — or more correctly, what changed a generation ago —  is more in the realm of things unseen, and we have yet to experience the full effect of what happens once those changes settle out.  The foundation of Western law and civilization has a big crack running across it.  The cornerstone is missing.

Consequently, this won’t be the last barrier to get a thumping from organized concupiscence. Pedophilia is the next big taboo the Secular Man will bulldoze. If you don’t think so, consider how impossible it would have seemed in 1960 that sodomy would receive a majority vote in Congress to receive federal protection. And consider also that other societies have long accepted pedophilia. The Romans famously indulged pederasty, and Amy Carmichael fought child prostitution among the Hindus a century ago. And if you’ve been reading the news, you know British and American military men have been shocked by widespread pedophilia among the Afghan soldiery.

According to published news reports, Afghan men have a cultural tradition of molesting little boys and explain that “boys are for pleasure and women are for children,” which calls to mind the American’s homosexuals’ contemptuous reference to normal relations as “breeder sex.” Pedophilia is nothing new, so that’s where the Secular Man will take America if he can.

Our soldiers and Marines, to phrase things diplomatically, disapprove of men who molest boys and prefer not to associate with them. Note that this is exactly the attitude they were supposed to have about men who practice sodomy just a few years ago. Now they’re defending a civilization that has already bypassed the stricture against pedophilia. And here’s the catch: How do our soldiers discourage the Afghans’ sexual misdeeds when our Congress has just forbidden them to discourage American sodomites’ sexual misdeeds?

And need I mention that the Afghans also practice polygamy? Every conservative in the blogosphere has said that the reasoning which defends homosexual marriage applies equally well to polygamy. So, yeah, the Afghans are already ahead of us, if that’s the term you’d use for this kind of moral evolution.

But with no transcendent basis for our law, what standard may we appeal to when we say that anything is wrong or even if there is such a thing as “wrong”? If morality is subject to majority rule as the Congress seems to think, then the Afghans voted and this is how it came out, so shut up and cut off that woman’s nose!

As I’ve written elsewhere on this subject, discussing morality without reference to the true God is a fool’s errand. Paganism assumes that gods made by human hands are as effective as any other kind. Does anyone else see a pattern here? If you start with paganism’s moral assumptions, you’re sure to end up with paganism’s conclusions, and that grows resistlessly into a society animated by paganism’s spirit and practicing paganism’s dark deeds.

And, by the way, you get the whole pagan deal with all its oppression, misogyny, child abuse, thought-crime, and ghastly enforcement mechanisms, not just the sexually pleasurable parts that were the bait on Satan’s hook. Like Shrek’s bargain with Rumplestiltskin, you won’t like what’s in the fine print.
