It’s Bush’s fault

Explaining Coakley’s loss to Brown, Mr. Obama said, “People are angry, and they’re frustrated. Not just because of what’s happened in the last year or two years, but what has happened over the last eight years.”

Carrying Bush Derangement Syndrome into the White House will prove to be a mistake, I expect.  Not everything wrong with America is the fault of George W. Bush.  Since Mr. Obama is the president now, and since he’s been in the job for a full year, it’s time for some maturity to take root.  This is Obama’s presidency, and it’s time for him to own it, for better or worse.  The graceless habit of blaming his predecessor needs to stop.  In Orwell’s Animal Farm, Napoleon the Pig invoked the memory of Farmer Jones as the incarnation of evil.  The similarity is becoming irresistible.
